SANDAG and Caltrans officials will be available to answer questions about the draft implementation blueprint for the North Coast Corridor program, a $6.5-billion package of rail, transit, highway, environmental, and coastal access improvements planned between Oceanside and La Jolla. The blueprint is officially known as the Public Works Plan/Transportation and Resource Enhancement Program (PWP/TREP). The majority of the projects in the PWP/TREP are part of previously adopted regional and city plans, including the Interstate 5 Express Lanes project, improvements to the coastal rail line, new bike/pedestrian trails, and protection and restoration of coastal lagoons.

Following the release of the PWP/TREP on Friday, there will be a 60-day public review and comment period before it is finalized for submission to the California Coastal Commission.

On Friday, a joint meeting of the SANDAG Transportation and Regional Planning committees will hear a presentation on the PWP/TREP. The meeting starts at 10 a.m. The media availability event will take place after the committee meeting.
