A high speed chase on Sunday ended in Bonsall with the arrest of a 36-year old man on suspicion of felony evasion and resisting arrest.  The pursuit of a 2016 Ford van began at 11:20a in Long Beach when the driver pulled up to a Los Angeles County fire chief and made verbal threats against his life.  Long Beach Police pursued him.  When he didn’t yield, other jurisdictions took over.  CHP tried spike strips unsuccessfully several times.  The van eventually ran out of gas under I-15 at Camino del Rey.  The man still refused to exit even after the driver’s window was broken out by a bean bag round.  A sheriff’s canine was deployed to take the Bonsall resident into custody.

Oceanside’s Civic Center fountain, which has been dry for two years, may soon flow again.  The city kept it dry as a gesture towards water conservation.  Now they’re looking at filling it with recycled water.  Plans have to be worked out, because there are no current connections from the city’s water recycling plant.  The nearly 30-year old fountain had been in poor condition and had had serious mechanical problems for years before it was drained.  Work was done on it and some needs to be redone under warranty from the last time.  The fountain holds about 67k gallons and loses about 480 a week.  The City Councilmembers generally agree that it should be used.  But what to fill it with, how to do so and whether to expand the plaza that house the fountain are all still under discussion.

The Murrieta Planning Commission last week approved plans for a 134-unit condo complex on a little under 9 acres east of Murrieta Valley High School at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Fullerton Road.  That follows the recent approved of another 64-unit complex on the parcel next door.

A reminder that the southbound Rancho California Road off ramp from I-15 will be closed tomorrow and Thursday from 8:30a to 3p.
