(San Diego - May 12, 2014) -- Dr. Fred Simon, candidate for U.S. Congress in California’s 52nd district, celebrated National Nurses Week with the Philippine Nurses Association of San Diego county (PNASD) in May.
"It's only fitting that this year's theme for Nurses Week is 'Nurses: Leading the Way," said Dr. Simon. "Everyday I see the positive impact nurses have as leaders in patient care,” said Dr. Simon.
A trauma surgeon and businessman, Dr. Simon spoke at the PNASD monthly meeting recently held at Savory Buffet in Miramar.
“For the past 39 years, these nursing professionals from PNASD have been an integral part of the world class medical community in San Diego,” he said.
He's committed to engaging and supporting the PNASD and the Asian Pacific Islander community as a member of the United States Congress.
"I have worked alongside many of these nurses and admire their strong work ethic, passion for their work and compassion for their patients,” said Dr. Simon. "I'm honored to be invited to speak and to celebrate with them."
National Nurses Week begins on May 6th and ends on May 12th on Florence Nightgale's birthday, the founder of modern nursing.
The 52 Congressional District includes the areas of Coronado, Downtown, Point Loma, Clairemont, Miramar, Mira Mesa, Scripps Ranch, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Penasquitos, Poway, and San Pasqual Valley
