ACTION ALERT: Meet with your Senators and Representatives During August Recess

Your senators and representatives are spending August in their home states for a legislatively required congressional recess. Please utilize this opportunity to contact the local offices of your senators and representatives and request meetings to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

We encourage you to schedule a meeting with your senators and representatives as soon as possible. Most offices prefer to be contacted via email or fax. To set up your meeting, first find your senators' contact information here and your representatives' contact information here. Then, click here to view a sample meeting request email and here to view our Advocacy Tips.

Over the past three weeks, the Israeli assault on Gaza has resulted in more than 1,867 Palestinians massacred and over 7,000 wounded to date, most of them civilians, including many women and children. During this time, Congress has shown unwaivering and uncritical support for Israel's aggression.

Congress has passed four resolutions condemning Hamas, yet has failed to criticize Israel for killing mostly civilians: (H. Con. Res. 107) on July 30, (S. Res. 526) on July 29, (S. Res. 498)  on July 17, and (H. Res. 657) on July 11.

Last Friday, the Senate voted to send even more money to Israel. The Senate unanimously passed a bill that grants Israel an additional $225 million dollars for their Iron Dome missile defense system.

Congress must be informed that the status quo of Israeli occupation and impunity is unacceptable to their constituents, including members of the Arab-American community. Now is the time to meet with your elected officials.

Most offices prefer to be contacted via email or fax. To set up your meeting, first find your senators' contact information here and your representative's contact information here. Then, click here to view a sample meeting request email and here to view our Advocacy Tips.

Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza: Tell your senators and representatives to demand an immediate ceasefire from both Hamas and Israel, and provide humanitarian assistance to Gaza.

The U.S. should cut military aid to Israel: The U.S. gives Israel $3 billion per year in military aid. Israel’s actions have demonstrated that it is not committed to democratic values; Israel’s interests should not be placed above the interests of Americans.

Comprehensive Peace Agreement: Tell Congress to support a peace agreement that resolves all outstanding issues driving the conflict.

United States-Israel Strategic Partnership Act (S. 2673): On, July 31, 2014, U.S. Senator and Israeli dual citizen Barbara Boxer asked the Senate to pass S.2673. Tell Congress that Israel shouldn’t be allowed into the Visa Waiver program unless they truly extend reciprocal privileges to all Americans without regard to race, religion, national origin, or ethnicity.

Anti-BDS Legislation (H.R. 4776): Through the BDS movement, activists are seeking to create international pressure on Israel to abide by international law and end the occupation of Palestine. Tell Congress to reject anti-BDS legislation (H.R. 4776) as an unconstitutional restriction on public speech.
